RAUROS to Develop the Pavement Management System for Spain’s State Road Network

Jul 21, 2026

Advanced Technical Management for 26,600 km of State Roads

RAUROS has launched a new contract with the Directorate-General for Roads of the Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, focused on the advanced technical management of pavement maintenance across Spain’s State Road Network.

Each new project strengthens our leadership. RAUROS consolidates its presence in Spain, building on a solid international track record in road asset management.

The project covers the management of approximately 26,600 km of roads within Spain’s State Road Network, including 11,300 km of high-capacity roads and 15,300 km of single-carriageway roads.

This new contract reinforces the position of the RAUROS-TYPSA Group in road asset management, infrastructure maintenance, and the application of advanced decision-support tools for road networks.

The Challenge: Prioritising Interventions Across an Extensive and Diverse Road Network

Pavement maintenance requires determining where interventions are needed, when they should be carried out, and which solutions will deliver the best performance throughout their life cycle. Planning based solely on isolated incidents can increase cumulative costs and reduce the authorities’ ability to anticipate future maintenance needs.

An Advanced Pavement Management System

The solution developed by RAUROS will enable the updating of pavement deterioration curves, the analysis of different budget scenarios, and the development of multi-year rehabilitation programmes. The system will incorporate tools to assess the pavement life cycle, from raw material extraction to end-of-life disposal.

Area of work Technical Application
Pavement management system Development, calibration, operation, and optimization
Performance Forecasting Updating deterioration curves and analysing scenarios
Planning Multi-year maintenance and rehabilitation programmes
Life-cycle Assessment Technical, economic, and environmental assessment of interventions
Specialised Technical Advisory Services Technical support tailored to the needs of the Directorate-General for Roads

Experience applied to road asset maintenance

This contract strengthens our position in Spain, building on extensive international experience in road management and maintenance, the development of expert systems, and the preparation of pavement assessment reports. These activities form part of the technical expertise offered by the RAUROS Group to public authorities, concessionaires, construction companies and engineering firms.
